Based on the study of records in the National Archives, by Don Ware and Slim Kohler, your revolver is estimated to have been manufactured in December 1863 as part of the July 6, 1863 contract between E. Remington & Sons and the Ordnance Department. A close examination of your revolver and its inspector's marks, will reveal if it was accepted by the government for this contract, or if it was rejected and thus sold on the commercial market.
