Well I *think* I mentioned it might not be perfect I just went with what I could find.
I've noticed a few others aren't quite right more to the later but after 1920 shouldn't be looking there ;)

Anything I find I try to make available.

I just acquired a Model 11 with a serial number of 242022 on the bottom, letters FN on the left side to the best of my knowledge as they’re faint, and stamped UMC. The research I’ve done gives me 3 different years. Could anyone help me narrow this down by chance? Thank you in advance!

According to the old Remington factory ledger, the Model 11 receiver with serial number 242022 was put in work between July 30 and September 30, 1922. F is not a Remington month date code, perhaps a poorly struck E which would be October? For the year N = 1922.

That would make sense. Did they still mark these with UMC after 1920 when they changed to Remington Arms? Because everything is clearly marked UMC.

Remington continued to use that Remington-UMC logo for many years after the company became Remington Arms Co., Inc. What is the company name on the barrel of your gun? I've seen a lot of early 1920s Remington Arms Co., Inc. products marked Remington Arms Company, Inc. Successor to The Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Company, Inc. So far I haven't recorded that on a Model 11 barrel but have on Model 10 and 17s and lots of vintage ammunition boxes.

I see, it is marked The Remington Arms Union Metalic Ctg. Co, Inc.
Thank you so much for your help!

Is that barrel the same serial number as the receiver? Serial number should be stamped on the base of the ring that goes around the magazine tube. The one thing that we can say is that barrel was made before they got a roll-stamp with the new company name.

There is no serial number anywhere on the barrel at all.

This is the only serial number anywhere on the gun.

With no serial number on the barrel, the only scenario I can think of is that the barrel was purchased after market and fitted outside the factory. Or the serial number was buffed off the barrel when it was reblued.

Researcher wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2016 10:35 am No. The combined 12-gauge Model 11 and "Sportsman" serial numbers reached 499999 in August 1943 and they then jumped to 700000 and continued. The old "between the wars" factory ledger ends for 12-gauge Model 11 and "Sportsman" on September 1, 1944, at serial number 716840. Serial number 749730 would have been a post-WW-II gun.

The Browning A5s made by Remington had their own serial number sequence, prefaced with an A for 16-gauge, B for 12-gauge and C for 20-gauge.
The Browning A5s made by Remington, is there a list of serial numbers that show what year they were manufactured? I know its like 1940-1946 but didn't know if there was a list that breaks it down further. Asking because I own one serial number B34xxx, stamped on the left side of the receiver.
