Help with Identifying Remington shotgun

Post by SupergradeM70 »

Hi everyone,

First time posting on this forum. I am now a proud Remington owner. I would to know if someone could help me identify what I have. The shotgun came with 10 an 12 gauge barrels. The 12 gauge have a serial number of 337 stamp on it.

Don, Need more information. My guess you have a Model 1875 Lifter in grade
5 or 6. Do you have forends for each set of barrels.call 330-669-2138 he can
help you.

Your Whitmore is a Model 1875 and I would say at least a grade 5, maybe higher if we could see some close detailed photos of the engraving. In my limited recordings from people of various 1875 model, I do show only one that is a 2 barrel set (gauge 10/12) and that one is serial 91. Look very careful and see if you can detect a number 91 anywhere on the gun. In any case you have a beauty.

Thanks you sir and 2shooter for responding to the post. I haven't pickup the shotgun yet from the auction house but here are 3 additional pictures of the shotgun. I will definitely have to go get her home and get better pictures.

Finally, had a chance to take some close up pictures of the gun. Hopefully, an 1875 expert can tell me the grade of the gun.

Dan, I would say you have a Model 1875 grade 5 have to see the gun if it would make grade 6. I would like to see the butt plate back and side stock very nice wood. What is the number on the 10ga. barrels?

Jake,

Unfortunately, the original butt plate is not there, not sure if the shotgun came with a metal or rubber butt plate. Here are some pictures of the stock. The number is 337.

Don, The butt plate should be checker horn. The screws should be engraved.
Is the 337 serial number on both sets of barrels.Do you have two forends?
What is the lenght of barrels?Looking at the pictures closer you have grade 5.
The stock looks like it may have some wood missing on bottom toe and belly.
