Nambujim is the man to contact. Do a search and you'll see that he knows more about these guns than Remington does these days.

Wow! Thanks Lefty!

My guess (and hope) is that your problem is related to the "Carrier Dog Spring". Take the gun down (2 pieces) and look down into the trigger guard portion, in front of the trigger you will see the "Carrier Dog" or as I like to better describe it "the little flippy thingy". That little thing is the "Carrier Dog", when you hold it down and then release it, it should be VERY springy. My test is to spring it both ways against the back of a thumbnail, it should smart a bit when it impacts......if not, then the spring is weak and needs to be replaced. It could also be that the channel in which the carrier rides is dirty and needs to be cleaned.

Regards!

Tom!

Getting the spring is one thing, installing it is another. I pay some really talented chap to make me springs out of high quality "modern" wire and they are not cheap. I work on these old rifles every day and while I don't like to use the RSA site to drum up business, I am about "the only game in town" when it comes to parts/repairs for the Model 14/141.

You can send me the triggerguard and I can replace the spring, the fact that its missing could mean someone "messed" with it before. I must tell you that both the "Carrier dog spring" and the "Carrier dog pin" are in short supply so lets hope you still have the original pin.................you can usually tell if it has been worked on by the amount of "dings" on the outside of the triggerguard around the Carrier Dog Pin.

Anyhow.........contact me at: nambujim@charlotte.twcbc.com and we can talk more about it. I usually ship the guard back the day after I get it and "suggest" that while I have it in hand I remove/clean the trigger assembly......if needed.
