Model 121 Routledge Problem

Post by lowgun »

I recently was lucky enough to find a 121 Routledge, code XRR which should be December 1946. I can't wait to shoot it, but the action will not lock closed. There is a little resistance to opening, but the slide will pull back without firing. The gun will cock and dry fire, but I'm afraid to fire it with live ammunition. The action is dry and I have not tried lubrication as a cure. Is there a spring loaded part that is not springing into place to lock the action? Thanks for any help.

OK, guys, my 121 doesn't lock shut. I can work the slide back and forth without it locking in the fire position. What is going on? Thanks for the reply. I have owned 121s before, so I know how they are supposed to work.
