My neighbor brought me his remington 572 and asked me to look at it. He said when he shot it the action would blow open and that it wasnt firing all the time. I shot it and that is what it is doing, I did a little research and thought that it was probably the locking bar. Now here is my problem, the rifle is an early model with no Barrel dowel screw in the side of the receiver. And when I took it apart there is no Locking bar, or spring or stud in the rifle. So do these early models not have these parts or are they just missing, if they arent supposed to be there can anyone give me some kind of idea what the problem could be and what I should be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
