Dear members, I have learned alot just by reading through the forums-great info...However, here is my question, I am sure I have a New Model Army Revolver (top of barrel reads, "Patented Sept. 14, 1858....etc), however, apparently the serial #s went from 12,000 to 148,000. My serial # is very clearly marked 1 1. There are no other #s and nothing is rubbed off or worn down(I have checked with mag glass, etc). I learned the "k" on the trigger gaurd is an inspectors mark but because it has Ivory grips there is no markings on grip handle. The grips fit perfectly and look original even though I guess they had to be after market? At any rate, can anyone tell me about the serial #? Such as date made and is this a rare piece?
Thank you so much....
Charles
