It sounds like everything is "original" on the rifle you described. Therefore, I would STRONGLY urge you NOT to make any modifications to it! You got a helluva deal on it and if I were you, it would get tucked away but brought out for some occasional use.
Any alterations you might do to it would only ruin its value.

I don't know what the production numbers were......and Remington doesn't list them on their website for that model.

It's possible that one of the Model 600 gurus on the forum have that information and if they read this thread they might be able to give us an idea.
I have three of the Model 600 Mohawks from the 1970s and like those rifles.
You can check the date it was made by the barrel code on the left side of the barrel from this link.

Micheal,
There was a total of 3028 Remington model 600s made in the 35 Remington. If you only paid $250.00 for it then it's in really bad shape, the seller didn't know what he had, or you got one hell of a deal. A 35 Remington in at least 90% condition. (only 10% away from brand new) will fetch about $850-$900.00.
As for the altering of any gun to a 219 don I would just buy a factory Remington in a 220 Swift and be done. You won't have to make your own brass. You won't have to create a science project out of a gun.
