760 Carbine 280

Post by hburney »

I have a model 760 carbine in 280 rem. It is marked Carbine on the bbl. I have never seen another. Does anyone have an Idea how many were made?

According to Gene Myszkowski's book "Remington Autoloading & Pump Action Rifles", 1,222 "C" grade carbines were made in 280 in 1960-1963, and 121 CDL carbines in that caliber were made in 1961-1963.

There were more carbines made in the 1970's - which has not been mentioned.

If you can offer a serial number and a couple of pictures - it would really help your cause.

Maybe you can date code the barrel and figure out when yours was made.

My memory is not what it once was, but I believe that less then 15% of all 760's made were carbines - which makes them more rare then regular production 760 ADL / BDL's.
