What about the 121 makes you assume it's a B-grade. Is it stamped 121B? Can you post a picture? Condition is a big deal when it comes to value. Is the 121 all factory? Has it been altered? After market checkering, drilled and taped for a scope??

.
The Remington site doesn't list a "B" model ever having been made.

Does it look something like these? They're the "A Standard" grade.

Re: Remington model 121B
There was a Remington 121B grade that had a little better then average checkered wood. I had a 121 Routledge bore that was in the box and was actually stamped 121B Routledge. The big problem here is that 90% of 121s that you see checkered are home jobs.

Look on page 101 of our book for a photo of a 121-B.
The 121-Bs I have seen were stamped 121 B on the receiver. Often the "B" was stamped with a different die. The 121-B had upgraded wood, a checkered butt stock and no grooves on the fore-arm (they had a checkered panel). I had three in my collection. They were all made in the late 1940s.

Re: Remington model 121B
Thanks for the reply's, i spoke to the historian at Remington yesterday and she told me that they were made from 1939-1954 and the "B" meant Special Grade, hand selected wood and the Checkering both on the butt stock and forearm. They didn't have the total number produced, but there were thousands made. Thanks for the reply's, just wish i new what it was worth. Mark

Re: Remington model 121B
Is yours stamped 121B? Is yours all factory? 90% means a lot of things to different people. These questions would all determine value.

Yep, it's stamped, 121B, not engraved. It is all orginal, very nice, I'm a collector of firearms ( Mostly old winchesters)and believe my grading of 90% is very accurate. Thx, Mark

Re: Remington model 121B
All factory and with the NRA standards of grading I would approximate it around $850.00.
Re: Remington model 121B
Thx, that is good to know.

Re: Remington model 121B
Looking through the old posts again and came across this 121-B post. I have two 121-Bs one a later production 121-B I bought at Amoskeag Auction Co 10 or 15 years ago. It was covered in old dried up oil and dust (the perfect protector) of old firearms !! It is a very pretty old 121 with really nice wood and neat old B grade checkering !! I will post some pictures of this one first and then follow up with description and pictures of the other next.
Thanks for looking !! John Taylor

Re: Remington model 121B
Okay here is the other 121-B This one is a much earlier production model. Unfortunately when I saw it on GB it had been drilled and tapped for a scope but it went cheap. It has kind of a neat old mounts that had a cheap Tasco 3/4" scope on it but the mounts were cool. I found a nice clear Sears Ted Williams scope from the 1950s I believe ?? So it has nice clear optics now. This one has really nice figure in the wood and has possibly been refinished with what appears to be an oil finish. Even though it has been altered it is still a neat old 121. Enjoy pictures !!

Re: Remington model 121B
Just a few last pictures of scope and mounts. This scope is newer than the gun by 20 years or so but it's what I had. Thanks !! John Taylor

Re: Remington model 121B
Thanks for posting John. Mighty fine wood grain for B grades!!!
It’s great to have photos for reference when the books for differing models of these old Remingtons are long out of print.
