Help on 700 "Varmint" versions??

Post by HeWhoHunts »

Could anyone give me information on HOW to tell which VERSION (see below) a 700 BDL is when looking at it? I believe all are 700 BDL versions with heavy varmint barrels. Is there a way to tell which is which? I think the first one has the pressed "checkering", any other differences one can notice? Also IS THERE AN ONLINE LIST of serial number groups for aging Remington 700 rifles??

thanks

The stocks on your varmint specials and your standard barrels will look the same other than the size of the barrel channel. 1962 to 1973 models had impressed checkering. The ADL models continued with impressed checkering until 1983. From about 1974 to 1977 they used cut checkering on the BDLs. From about 1978 they used more of a skipline pattern which has larger diamonds scatterd through the checkering. The 700 BDLs will have a black forend and black pistol grip cap.

hi, guns are 98% or better. no damage, wear, etc, etc.floorplates, trigger guards are near perfect, jeweling on bolt near perfect, very little wear, only slight muzzle edge wear from cases, bores look spotless,no varnish wear, cracks or dings, only a very few surface handling marks. all 4 guns have bases,3 have rings. best way to desrcibe these is they were owned and sat in gun racks, hardly ever used. sorry, no pics available but 100% satisfaction is my policy.priced at $635.00 DELIVERED to your FFL.i am in ND at 701-730-5161,where are you located? thanks !!!
