Hello
I own a new model army which I hope is an original:
the serial number is 743XX; on the barrel is written:
PATENTED SEPT.14,1858.E.REMINGTON & SONS,ILION,N.Y.NEW MODEL in one line...
when was it manufactured?
Thanks
Thierry, France, Bordeaux (a votre sante!)

Your Gun sounds original and was made in the middle of 1864. Jay Huber RSA
Re: MORE help me with my NMA
Hello again and thanks for your answer.
But....
some details don't fit:
The front line is "strange"
The serial number is under the grips (on bottom) like modern guns
under the loading lever, on the frame (under left wood) and on the hidden side of the left grip one can read 895
What do you think?
merci beaucoup cher ami.

Re: help me with my NMA
The photos tell me it is probably and original gun that was cleaned down to remove the original markings and converted to cartridge, At that time it was re-stamped with the address and a serial number and a three digit conversion number, Does the same serial appear under the left grip? Does the plate at the end of the cylinder have 6 firing pins or does the hammer have an extended firing pin? Is it Center-fire or Rim-fire? Jay
Re: help me with my NMA
yes the same number appears u nder the left grip.
the cylinder I think is a modern( 70's) 5 rounds.
merci

Re: help me with my NMA
It is definitely a conversion and nicely done, perhaps in France since they bought a lot of the Remingtons after our Civil War was over. . The percussion cylinder will not work properly. The gun was re-stamped at time of conversion. Jay

"perhaps in France since they bought a lot of the Remingtons "
No, the gun was bought in South Carolina on a garage sale in the 70's.
Anyway thanks
