Re: Model 12 brass butt plate?
There is a guy on Ebay that sells every week repro stocks. Usually cherry. I have not seen everything but I am a collecter of model 12s. I dont have as many as some but more then 30 and I have never seen a brass trap door butt plate. My guess its not facttory

I doubt very much that it is factory. I've never seen one and have found nothing in the archives that would indicate factory use.
Here is the link to this butt plate. The guy had listed a stock and several other parts. As I too had never seen a brass butt on a model 12 I did not buy the stock for fear it was altered to fit this plate. It is a professional looking plate... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0072005080
If the trapdoor matched up with the hole for removing the stock I guess one could put in a cleaning rod. I'll go out on a limb here and say it ain't factory; at least not the Remington factory...

The individual who paid $34 for it must have liked it.
