New guy with a question - Williams FoolProof sight on a 700?

Post by WFR »

I have a 1979 model 700 in .30-06.
The gun is pristine minus a couple of very small dings in the wood.
I bought it used on '06 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary.

I probably won't hunt with it much because I have 700 Mtn Rifles in .280 & .257 that will get the nod.
This rifle is drilled & tapped on the side of the receiver for an aperture sight.
I have located one for sale and would like to try this out.

Couple of questions:

1) Does anyone have a picture of a 700 with a Williams Foolproof on it?
2) Will I have to modify the stock or rifle in any way to use this sight.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes the stock ussually has to be notched for the peepsight.my opinion don't ruin the gun. The peep will not give you any advantage to make it worth cutting on the gun.

That's the clear answer I was looking for.
I'd still like to see a picture of one mounted.
