If I understand correctly D is September, J is 1962 but what does the assembly code X mean?
I love the old 22's I have a 511, a 510, and I just got this 510-P and can't wait to get it to the range.

If you have a 510-P the DJ means[b] Sept 1940[/b]. Rem didn't make any 510s in 1962. The "X" version was introduced in 1964, but not with the point-crometer sight. I am convinced that Rem added another letter or symbol just to confuse us. In other words, I have no idea what the "X" stands for.

I had not previously noticed that "J" is also 1940.

Woops, you got me... I looked at the wrong line...... Even Roy's and my book shows production through 1962. Mop-up production showed 2,803 510s sold in 1962 and 115 in 1963 from existing stock.
