Remington Model 11 20ga 2 barrel set?

Post by knuck39 »

I have a Remington model 11 20 ga manufactured in 1931. It comes with 2 barrels, one in full choke and a shorter one in improved cylinder. One of the barrels serial numbers match the receiver, the other does not. However, the date code of manufactory on both barrels is "Y" 1930. Is it possible the gun left the factory as a 2 barrel set? or is it just a pipe dream due to one of the barrels not having the same serial number as the receiver.
Also, how do I manipulate the gun so that it will shoot the lighter skeet and trap loads? There are some directions under the forearm wood, but they are hard to read.
Any answers to these questions would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

The only two barreled M11 set that I have is a 1935 Grade E. The barrels both have the same serial number and the gun came in a factory case. I am just guessing that your extra barrel was bought to go with the gun at the time of sale and not part of a special order. It may have well been ordered with the gun and just pulled from stock and shipped or purchased at the POS.

Thanks for the info.
The gun shoots great for me on the trap and skeet range. I'll have to try it on some pheasant.
