10 round magazine for 7600
10 round magazine for 7600
Does Remington make a 10 round magazine for a model 7600 or are they just from aftermarket manufactures? If only aftermarket, are they reliable? Which is the best?
Re: 10 round magazine for 7600
There are three different models of clips for a 7600
You have the one for the new .223
You have one for the short actions - 243 / 308 / 300 savage etc
You have one for the long actions - 25-06/ .270 Winchester / 30-06
I know that Remington does make one for the .223 - which might not be called a 7600 - but since it is of the same design I will include it so that people will not be combative on my reply.
I do not own a 10 shot clip for the short action - but I guess they are out there.
I do own a clip for the long action - but I never saw one that was made by Remington. The one I have was made aftermarket and cost $40
It looks as though someone took a 760 Clip and cut the bottom off and used a forming die to make the top half and spot welded the bottom half from the origional clip to the top half of the newly fabricated part.
It works, but it required some grease to make all the shells come out of it with less force. I believe the reason for that is because the spring inside of the clip is so long that it has to hold the same amount of tension as the origional 4 shot clip when there is only one round in the magazine. To do that, it has to have someplace to put all that spring. When you put 9 or 10 rounds inside of it - it has 4 times the pressure against the round as the origional clip with one round inside of it.
I was afraid of doing damage to the bolt, slide action and extractor clip from all the force that it took to feed the round into the action.
So I don't use that clip very often and when I do I only put about 7 or 8 rounds into it.
The government outlawed the 10 shot clip a number of years ago.
So no manufacturer comes right out and says that it makes one.
You can see them in magazines sometimes and mail order catalogs.
Most of them are made out of plastic.
With all the pressure inside of my clip, I would not think that a plastic one would last very long. So I would go with the steel clip.

Thank you Rifleman ~ I have a .308 so I guess it's the short action I'm looking for, but you wouldn't have known that since my signature didn't save the first time.
