I have acquired a Remington Model 17 with the SN of 72324 and am wondering where I can get the date of manufacture from?

It would be near the end of the Model 17 production. According to the old factory ledger the receiver with that serial number was put in work between 19 and 26 May 1933. Model 17 production essentially ended in October 1933 with one more gun produced in 1939. There should be a two-letter date code on the barrel on the left side near the receiver. Here is serial number 72171 and the date code on the barrel is PB P = June B = 1933 --
