Hi all, first post so please be gentle..
I have a late model 11 , does any one know what the last the serial numbers were? My barrel code is CTT. April 1948. serial # 80001x. This is (was) a police patrol shotgun with a 18" barrel, 12 gauge, with an ugly flat parked finish. I had talked to an old retired Officer in 1999, who remembered them. Said they got 10 of them in around 1950. Yes, this is a small Texas town. Just wondering. I have 4 older ones, but this one is my fav. I still carried it on patrol up until about 10 years ago. This has to be close to one of the last ones made. Thanks in advance..

Re: Question on late Mod. 11
The highest serial number 12-gauge I've recorded is 804638 with a solid ribbed full choke barrel with date code PTT -- June 1948.
Re: Question on late Mod. 11
Thank you Researcher. I don't know where I read that 1947 was the last year they were made, but apparently that was incorrect. Thanks again

Re: Question on late Mod. 11
I think the problem comes with Remington calling their next autoloader the Model 11 - '48 and Sportsman - '48, but through at least the May 1948, Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalog they were still offering the Model 11 and Sportsman. The "Two new fast, light, streamlined auto-loading shotguns SPORTSMAN - '48 & Model 11 - '48" appear in the 1949 Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalog.
Re: Question on late Mod. 11 barrels
I am a new member and this is my first try at posting a question. Also, I am long in the tooth but short on using my new computer and need all the help I can get. So as someone said - "Be gentle", and please pardon the mistakes I'm gonna be making for awhile.
I have two 12 Ga. barrels that I believe came off a Remington Model 11. One is a Full Choke, for 2-3/4 in shells, 31 in long, with a solid rib. The number on the barrel ring is 408992.
The other (older) barrel is only 20 in. long, and evidently was cut down from a longer barrel, as it is also stamped as Full. It too has a solid rib. The number on the barrel band is also 408992. (A Part Number?)
The story I was told is that the gun (an old Model 11) was one belonging to my grandfather. He had two barrels for it - a Full Choke for duck hunting and an Improved Cylinder barrel for quail hunting. His next door neighbor, a County Sheriff, "borrowed" the shotgun, with the understanding that he could shorten one of the barrels for carrying it in his patrol car - and he would replace the cut-off barrel with a new one. After the Sheriff retired, he returned the gun with the new replacement barrel, along with the old cut-down barrel.
My grandfather again loaned the old shotgun to another friend to take quail hunting, with the Imp. Cyl. barrel fitted. This "friend" never returned it - so the gun is long gone, but I have those two barrels, the 31 in. and the 20 in. - that I have no use for.
Question: I am pretty certain, but how do I tell for sure that these two barrels are for a Remington Model 11?

Re: Question on late Mod. 11
The Model 11 receiver with serial number 408992 was put in work during August 1938. That was a bit before Remington began marking the chamber length on their barrels. This gun from just over a year later is marked with the length --

Researcher,
You seem to be the expert so I hope you don’t mind me asking for your assistance also. Here are pictures of my late, father in law’s model 11 12 ga. I’m trying to find its age. I’d appreciate any info you can give me.
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Question on late Mod. 11
From what I’ve read, it seems numbers starting with 794 might be from 1947-1948?

The highest 12-gauge serial number I've recorded is 804638 so your gun is from the last year or two,
