Model 510, 511 and 512- Won't stay cocked

Post by wbill »

I have a 510 that won't stay cocked. The red safety indicator goes in when the bolt handle is turned down after cocking. Any ideas about what is wrong? Weak trigger spring? Worn sear?

I have the same issue with a 511. Did you ever find a cure?

Frequently it is worn where the Sear and Firing Pin engage. I would clean the parts well making sure to scrape off any crud. Check that the parts move freely, be sure to inspect pivot pins for damage. The Trigger Spring may be weak.

There may not be a single problem so be sure to consider that several small factors are causing the issue.
