Model 11 with brass pins on receiver, Polychoke

Post by izhevskie »

Hello!

I'm hoping to find a little information on this M11, assuming there's any to be had. It's got a six-digit serial, a Polychoke and an in-trigger-guard safety. It's unremarkable on the whole with the exception of the two little brass pins at the rear of the receiver. They look to be original, but I can't find a single record of this gun being released in a deerslayer model or otherwise modified in this way.

I originally bought it as a project, but I hate to mess with it without knowing what it might be.

Thanks in advance for any information!

I have only seen that once before. It was on a WWII era Model 11 that Navy Special Services had as a loaner back in the '60s. The gun had been used to teach aerial gunnery, had an odd attachment that had been on the fore end to mount it I guess, and had Lyman screw on choke tubes. The pins didn't seem to affect my shooting. At the time I had a really new 1100 and I was really starting to smack the targets.
What could have happened... did.

Looks like a tame version of Annie Oakley's Model 11 --

Here are some pictures of the WWII aerial training unit complete with Remington model 11. These were mounted in the back of vehicles and driven through a course to shoot clays. This was training for aerial gunners
