I Bought a new (to me) Receiver would like to Identify

Post by 264Mi »

Hello, I recently bought a Remington 700 LH receiver
and would like to know how I can Identify when it was made.
Stamped on the Right side of the Receiver is "Remington
Model 700 LH
to the right of this is the following # C6545956
There are no other markings, letters or numbers on the receiver.
Thanks .264mi

From my own little serial number listing, it would fall around 1990

Thanks for the information.
Just to be clear as far as I know this is not a SN
at least to my knowledge and understanding SN
are on the barrel. and I have just the 700 action/receiver/bolt.

C6545956 is the serial number. It should be inscribed on the bolt as well. The serial number in modern times is not on the barrel as usually barrels can be changed. I forget the exact year, but serial numbers since circa 1968 are on the receiver proper. You are thinking of the Remington build date with a code on the barrel proper.

600RemGuy, Thanks Appreciate the information for sure. Always thought it should be on the receiver as it's the main frame of the gun.
