Remington Keene
Remington Keene
First time poster here hoping someone can give me some guidance on a rifle that's out of my wheelhouse. I normally collect ww1/2 rifles but have my fair share of remington sporting long arms for hunting and trap. A friend gave me a Remington Keene frontier rifle and I have no idea what to do with it. It's basically a barreled receiver in the stock with the mag tube and trigger. It's missing everything else and the metal has been parkerized and wood refinished. What's it worth? How easily put back together is it? Can anyone tell me more about this rifle devoid of markings?

Re: Remington Keene
That is an interesting project. I've found that parts are basically unavailable anywhere for these. I had picked up a project Keene rifle that was mostly there for $250, and found out that the extra parts I needed were not available anywhere at any price. I searched a couple years and eventually found another project parts gun for sale with the parts I needed. I paid another $250 for that one, and was eventually able to put it together as one, with a lot of extra work. If you still have it, I would be interested in picking your project up. It would put me a little closer to having another complete gun, although, I would still be missing some major pieces. Maybe someday, I'll stumble into those.

Re: Remington Keene
I can't open any of your pictures, so no idea of the condition. But I'd never attempt to bring a Keene back to shooting condition unless I already had the parts on hand. As mentioned almost anything you'll need would require a skilled machinist to make from scratch.
I always wanted a Keene as I think they're very cool, but anytime I found one cheap it too was missing parts.
