Re: manufacture date of model 11
I do not understand why you wouldn't have access.
This information is available to the public and I can access it without logging in.
You select the "Manufacturing Dates" tab and it will present all the resources available to the Society. It is, however, not obvious that you have to click on the link for factory ledgers and look for the page numbers I have cited.
I know you "just" want a date and I could give it to you but I would prefer you and anyone else reading "learn how to fish" it's free!
With kindest regards,
Will

Re: manufacture date of model 11
The receiver with the serial number 425311 was put in work during January 1940. The receivers had a roll-stamped game scene on each side.
Without pictures there is not much else we can tell you. These old "square back" Remingtons don't draw much in the market place unless in near mint condition or the higher grades. Couple hundred dollars in the pawn shops around here for the 12-gauges.

Re: manufacture date of model 11
About all that can be accurately stated is that 16-gauge Sportsman 1556255 is a post-WW-II gun. The old factory ledger for the 16-gauge Model 11/Sportsman serial numbers ends June 30, 1942 at 1551120. What is the date code on the barrel?
Re: manufacture date of model 11
I just dropped it off at the gunsmith to refinish the stock. He’s gonna have it a few weeks. I can’t wait to get it back to check the codes.

Re: manufacture date of model 11
Hi I just purchased a 12ga model 11d tournament (what the tag in the store said) serial number 104522 and was wondering if anyone new when it would of been made? I've been trying to search to find t=out, but everything I've found have the serial numbers that start over 100,000 higher than mine. Thanks

RCracing25,
Jim Tipton's research has the gun produced in 1911.
Is there "Remington" Stamped on the top tang and a Circle "UMC" trademark on the bottom tang? Just curious.
If you could post or send me a few good quality pictures of the key components I can let you know if any or all are original. Ie forearm, stock, buttplate, engraving, barrel and barrel stampings, etc.

Thank you that's awesome. It does have Remington on top and the circle with UMC on the bottom. the serial numbers on the receiver and on the barrel look to be matching. I'm not sure of the others except the butt plate is not original. Here are some pictures. and I will post more under these.

Re: manufacture date of model 11
Thanks it looks like everything is original to the gun to me, except of course the recoil pad.
The capped pistol grip is not as common as the half or straight grip.
Also, by this time ribbed barrels are more predominant.
Nice gun I hope you enjoy owning/shooting it.
