Even more curious Matt! I'd think it couldn't be silver soldered on as that wouldn't make it through color case hardening. Seems odd to attach it, and not have some visual means of attachment? Thanks again for those images!

little late to the game on this thread. My curiosity has come into play as it appears that both two piece trigger guards are associated with a single set trigger. Just wondering it there is a connection.

The single set trigger could be added to any sporting rifle for a extra cost. The earliest sporting rifle that was found to have the single set trigger was around serial number 204.

I have two with single set triggers, and neither is a two piece trigger guard. One around serial #1700, and the other around #1400.
