Hello all
I’m new here and my apologies if this information is posted elsewhere .
I have found a Smoot revolver with serial number 812 found under the hand grip. It’s nickel plated with black handgrips. How can I identify which model this is and year it would be from? Also it’s it decent shape with some rust pitting but it’s missing the screw that would hold the barrel to the lower trigger part, any idea of if and where one would find a replacement screw?
Many thanks

Hi Matt,
Post a pic and we can tell you what you have. There are 4 different Smoot models, and the No 3 has 4 variations. You lost me when you said: "missing the screw that would hold the barrel to the lower trigger part." By any chance, do you mean the screw that attaches the upper and lower frames together at the bottom, front of the lower frame?

Thanks Dan
Attached are some photos.
Yes it’s missing a screw which would hold the lower part and upper part together at the bottom front of the lower frame.
Thanks again for the help

Re: Found Smoot in floor
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the pic. You have one of 3,000, No 2 Smoots, made 1878 -1886. My guess is that it was made in 1878 or 1879. It should be in 32rf, but a few were made in 30rf. I have no idea where you might find a replacement screw. You might try parts dealers at gun shows, or a posting here on the RSA forums.
Good Luck,
Dan
