Model 11

Post by Mike agee »

I have a model 11 20 guage, serial number 1001893. Barrel # match. No stamping on left side of barrel other than mod description. No markings on receiver other than Rem logo and serial #. Need a little help on information

There should be a date code stamped on the barrel indicating the month and year of manufacture. Go here for an explanation: https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/

Anyway, I think you have an early 20 gauge Model 11. IIRC, the Model 11 wasn't made in 20 gauge until 1930. My 20 gauge #1009xxx has barrel date PY (June 1930) and your gun is a lower number and should have been made before that.

Thanks, I found it, right in the forearm wear line. May 1930. Ok the big question is it too valuable to refinish. It was my dad's so it's not going anwhere.

Model 11 20-gauge receiver with serial number 1001893 was put in work between March 22 and April 26, 1930, according to the old factory ledger. Unless it is a higher D "Tournament", E "Expert" or F "Premier" Grade, it is only worth a few hundred dollars.
