I purchased this last week at a local auction and it's my only WWII era shotgun. Date on the barrel (MM) reflects 1943, but I'm not sure what the character is that represents the month, maybe one of you guys can help me out on that. Per Bruce Canfield's shotgun book it looks like a legitimate WWII riot gun. The gun looks unissued to me. Any comments?

Looks like a K, making it May 1943. There is a big jump in the old factory ledger from June 30, 1942, when the highest serial number 12-gauge receiver put in work was 469323 and Aug. 1, 1943, when they reached 499999. Serial numbers then jumped to 700000 and continued. That is probably the nicest looking military Model 11R "Riot" Grade I've seen.

Thanks. Based on its condition, I figured you guys would like to see it. It has led a very pampered life somewhere.
