Model 32 Shotgun

Post by aardq »

Does anyone know if the model 32 was ever made in a 20 gauge? My understanding is that this shotgun was too expensive to make a profit on, and that the patents were sold to Krieghoff, who has made their (very expensive) version of the Model 32 for many decades now. True or false?
Thank you,

The Model 32 was only ever offered by Remington Arms Co., Inc. in 12-gauge --

but many multi-gauge Skeet sets have been made outside the factory. Here is a page from the 1961 Simmons catalog --

How do I determine the date of manufacture of my Model 32?

On the block between the barrels, under the forearm, the choke markings are on one side and usually a 2 letter date code on the other. I have seen the date code in other locations on Model 32 barrels.

Researcher, My 32TC has the letters AB on the right side, plus the anchor and REP. Is this the date code?

1964 Simmons catalog and the same price. The tube sets were made by Cordy in Liege, then fit by Simmons

The REP is Remington Arms Co., Inc.'s proof mark -- Remington English Proof or Remington Explosive Proof depending on what literature one reads. The A = March, B = 1933

Larry Del Grego's shop on Barringer Road, Ilion made extra barrels in all gauges for the Model 32. He upgraded Model 32s so that they looked like they came out of Remington's Custom Shop. They should since he hired Custom Shop employees who worked afterhours at his shop. I have a Del Grego upgraded Model 32 with gold inlays that was done in 1968 by Bob Runge and the stock work and checkering are equal to 1960s factory F grade Custom Shop work. It has a factory 12 gauge barrel set and a 20 gauge barrel set that used Remington barrels.
