Model 700 .300 WIN Mag Identification

Post by mshaw68 »

I have read multiple threads that talk about finding the date of manufacture based on a letter at the beginning of the serial number on the left side of the barrel.

I have a six digit ALL NUMERIC serial number. Would anyone be able to help me determine the date of manufacture for my newly inherited Model 700.

Thanks very much.

They only started using serial number prefix letters in the mid-1970s. Consequently, a rifle without a letter would have been before then.

By the way, you posted your rifle question in the "handgun" section.
