Model 1894 auto-ejector unit

I have just acquired a very nice model 1894 that is an AE model. Unfortunately in the dim past the auto-ejector assembly was removed from the gun. All that remains is the split extractors that now function as a normal extractor. I am looking for an auto-ejector assembly complete. Any sources for me?????

Is the forearm iron serial numbered to the gun? If it is could you install all the ejector parts if you had them? I may be able to help. Jay Huber RSA

YES, THE SERIAL NUMBERS OF ALL COMPONENTS ARE THE SAME. WHEN YOU LOOK DOWN AT THE FOREND THERE IS AN OBVIOUS MISSING OR EMPTY AREA OR EMPTY SOCKET IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE EXTRACTOR. THE EXTRACTOR IS SPLIT TO WORK AS AN AUTO EJECTOR. I MAY BE INCORRECT BUT ANY INTERNAL PARTS REQUIRED IN THE ACTION SUCH AS SPRINGS OR A FORK-LIKE SEAR SPRING ARE PROBABLY STILL IN THE RECEIVER. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND AND WHAT CAN YOU PROVIDE. THE OLD GUN IS IN UNUSUALLY FINE CONDITION ABSENT THIS SHORTCOMING.

The ejector parts are all installed in the forearm iron a nothing is in the receiver. When the gun is fired the hammer spring moves forward in the frame and trips a lever in the forearm that releases the appropriate ejector hammer. You need to send me a picture of your forearm iron, top view so I may determine if your iron will accept installation of the ejector parts and springs. I have a 1900 forearm iron with all the parts installed which I could sell you and you would have to transfer all the parts to your 94 iron. The 1900 iron will not interchange with the 94. I never got the email however I did look at Auction Arms. The picture of the forearm iron tells me is will accept all the parts to reinstall the auto ejector. I can send sell you all these parts installed on a 1900 Iron that way you can see where the parts go an reinstall them on your 94 iron. I will want $100 + 4.50 shipping for the 1900 Iron complete. Your gun is unusual for an A grade in that it has a pistol grip cap on it, which is not usually found on A grades. The butt stock wood looks better than the standard A grade stock and the engraved butt plate screws are not common. The gun my have been restocked outside the factory and they may have removed the ejector parts at tha time. Many trap shooters would have this done. The work might have been done at Remington also but there is no way of knowing. Many time trap shooters would have the auto safety disconnected. Let me know what you want to do. Jay

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE ON TE MODEL 1894. I SHOT IT TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND FIND THAT THE EXTRACTORS SANS THE AUTO EJECTOR SYSTEM WORKS JUST FINE. I THINK I WILL STAY AS IS ......NOW THAT I KNOW THAT THE GUN WORKS WELL. I ALSO NOTICED TE STOCK PISTOL GRIP AND ENGRAVED SCREWS ON THE BUTTPLATE. OF MORE SIGNICANCE IS THE CONDITION OF THE BARRELS WHICH ARE PRISTINE AND THE ACTION IS TIGHT AND ON FACE. THE FORE-END CONDITION WHICH USUALLY SEES LOTS OF HARD WEAR IS ALSO IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IN SUM, IT WAS AS ADVISED.....A CLOSET QUEEN. THE LOP IS 14 AND WITH A GALCO SLIP-ON FITS ME NICELY. SO I THINK I MADE A GOOD FIND. I HOPE YOU AGREE. THANKS AGAIN, IF I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT THE AUTO-EJECTORS I WILL CONTACT YOU.

I note the gun is Damascus barrel and even in what appears to be excellent condition, I caution you in shooting it with modern ammo. The chambers are probably 2 5/8" ( not 2 3/4"). I collect, restore and shoot the Remington doubles and only shoot my Damascus barrel models with black powder shells or very low pressure smokeless ammo. Enjoy it as much as I do mine. Jay Huber

THANKS! I SHOOT ONLY 2 1/2 INCH VINTAGER AMMO OR BP LOADS FROM METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO. I THINK YOU ARE CORRECT REGARDING THE STOCK.....PROBABLY A REPLACEMENT YEARS AGO....BUT NICE LOP AND DROP THAT I PREFER AS I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A HEAD-UP PROBLEM.

You should pull your triggerguard to see if the serial number is stamped into the wood under the guard. That will tell you if the wood is original. Ross
