Located two #3 rifles with the letter I as a prefix to the serial number on the tang. Both are in the 10,000 serial number range. Mine is I-10052 and my buddie's is I-10047. These guns are chambered in 22W and 25-20SS.
Both have the fast taper 30# octagon barrel, fast taper fore end with ebony inlay in the schnoble and have the heavy sprorting butt plate.
Can anyone shed light on the reason for the letters preceeding the serial number? Any other information would also be appreciated.
