Hepburn Match B

Post by marlinman93 »

Just picked up this Hepburn Match B at the CGCA show last weekend! Was very lucky to be standing by the seller's table as he pulled it out of the case and set it in the rack! I was immediately drawn to it for two reasons. First I've always wanted a Match B Hepburn, and second the barrel was so much longer than the other old guns in the rack that I immediately wondered what length it was?
After looking it over carefully, I asked for a tape measure. The barrel measured 34" half octagon! Only Match B I'd ever seen with that long 34" barrel. I asked if I could check for matching numbers, and was assured it all matched! Worked out an agreed price, and I'm thrilled to own it! Tom Rowe was there working on his new book, and looked it over for me. He confirmed the 34" barrel was super rare on a Match B, and he'd seen none to add to his book when he wrote it.
