1889 Manufufacture Date

Hey all new here. Have a model 1889 shotgun 12ga. #225741 just lookin for a date. Many thanks

Your '89 was made in 1902. The grade should be stamped on barrels and water table. Off the shelf guns came in three grades depending on barrel material --- #1 - decarbonized steel, #2 (better) - twist steel and #3 (best) - damascus steel. None of these grades had any engraving. For grades higher than #3 -- these would have been special order.

Thanks for your reply. It has a 1 by the serial number so it is a grade 1. Thank you very much.

The Grades 1, 2 and 3 just varied by the barrel material. From the second 1901 Remington Arms Co. catalogue --

I have a Remington 16 ga semi auto 1100 serial #1532063 how do I figure out date of gun and the value

You're on the pre - '89 page.

The production date can be found on the Remington web site.

Value would depend on rarity, grade and condition.
