Model 14 1/2
Model 14 1/2
I have a Model 14 1/2 that I found at a local auction and couldn't help but give it a good home and now I'm looking to learn a little more about it. Serial number is 33XXX and are matched on the inside as well, on the right side of barrel near receiver there is the single letter "N" down low, RP with a circle around it, and a symbol with two crossed flags with a crown above and the letters "D" "P" and "C" also in the symbol. On the left side of the barrel near the receiver the letter "J" is stamped, on the inside of the receiver there is stamped "44" and what appears to be a backward "C". Barrel is 22 inch and overall length is 40.5 inch. Any help with learning more about this gun is appreciated. Thanks
Re: Model 14 1/2
Your rifle is one of 4,000 that we refer to as DCP guns. Remington supplied them during WWI to the UK for use by the Naval Air Service but in truth most were "probably" used on merchant ships to detonate mines. The DC stands for Dominion of Canada but these rifles (all .44's) ended up in NZ, Australia, Canada, and just about all over the British Empire.
Suggest you buy Ken Blauch's book on the Model 14/14-1/2/141, it is the most definitive work on these rifles, he covers the DCP guns as well as providing other information on the Model 14-1/2..............more than you will ever need to know....lol.
