The letters "O Q" would translate to July of 1978. To further corroborate that date is the serial number prefix letter of "A". They started using letter prefixes in the mid 1970s starting with the letter "A". About every five years they incremented the letter.......early 1980s was "B", late 1980s was "C".shikano53 wrote:Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am hoping someone can help me here.
I am the owner of a 700 Remington left hand bolt in 30.06
I purchased it in September of 1989 used.
I have checked a couple of different sites to determine the date of manufacture of my rifle but I am a bit confused.
On the left hand side of the barrel in front of the receiver there is some form of glyph, then there are the letters OQ and then finally the numbers 12
The actual serial number of the rifle is A662904
My interpretation of this is that the date of manufacture was March of either 1978 or 1979 unless what I think is an 'O' is actually a zero.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
