1875 Foresight variations

Post by MarkM »

Hi all

I was wondering whether any of you good people can assist with a Remington 1875 question I have. The item in question is a nickel plated 44-40 serial number 396, with no lanyard and an unusual foresight, it is like a blade but is crude and not semi-circular in shape, anyone seen this type of foresight before? The serial number is on the inside of the loading gate and left side of the frame at heel of the grip. The calibre 44 is on the lefts side in between the barrel and cylinder. Any thoughts would be great.

Sounds like a late 44-40, Civilian model, And I agree that the sight might be a later alteration..Pictures would help...Jim
