Serial number blocks for Remington 11-87 SPS

Post by SpecialPurpose1985 »

Trying to determine the Serial Number block (at least) of my Beloved Remington 11-87 SPS.

I purchased it in 1997 or 1998 and it was Totally NIB.

I Never buy anything used.

The first one I got was a Store Demo and about 1 day after that I took it back and they ordered another one from the Remington
factory. It took awhile and the FFL said "Remington is Slow" so it was obviously just from the factory.

This last September 2012 it was stolen and I am trying to determine just what block the serial number might be as I didn't have it recorded.

It is Paramount for everyone to have all their firearm serial numbers recorded and kept in many different locations.

Where did you buy it? They should still have the copy of the 4473 form that was filled out when you bought it.

Never buy anything "used"?.......what a shame.

Even Remington's site doesn't list serial number blocks.

By the way, last September would have been in 2012......not 2013.

2013 was a typo sorry. I am a Perfectionist and I don't like buying used stuff. Sorry...

Already tried the FFL through BATFE Out of Business Records but no such luck as of yet.

If you are trying to duplicate your lost gun, I can sympathize, but all I can say is good luck. In a blinding flash of ignorance, I sold a 1974 Wingmaster Magnum. Six guns later, including three '74s and one with a serial number less than 200 different, I have finally decided the current '76 is as close as I am going to ever get to perfection lost. Memory is not all that reliable anyway. :(

Well just trying to get the Serial Number to get the Police and NCIS as well as as NCIC.

One of the other serial numbers is now listed as being stolen in those databases.

The 11-87 SPS has been replaced NIB by the insurance company but I wish I had the Serial number in case it is ever recovered.

The original SPS had A LOT of memories.

Hundreds of firearms are recovered in this city and county every year.

With Remington's help (and I has been months trying to get them to help) that I am able to determine that the first two of the Serial # would be PC.

Now six more digits to go.

If I am able to determine the serial number code for 1998 then I will get closer.

'PC' prefix on 12 gauge 11-87s started in 1987 with the first 11-87s, and is still going as far as I know. I figured you knew that, sorry. After that they are sequential. If you have it with the month of manufacture they should be able to do a reverse lookup and get close, but they are very error prone. How did you get a partial # ?
