Why is it that Remington 1894's are so under valued in the double gun market? I just purchased a BEO straight grip gun for just over $400 if this was a Parker it would have been 5 times that price. This gun isn't perfect, it needs a new recoil pad to replace the hard, crumbly one that I removed and some TLC on the wood and metal. The gun does have great dimensions and perfect bores, so what gives?
The second part of my question is how rare or not rare are BEO straight grip guns? This one seems like it would be a really nice clays gun with 30" steel barrels.

Re: 2 part question
I guess it is supply and demand. There just isn't the raging demand for Remington doubles like there is for the works of the Brothers P. I think that is great as it allows me to own guns like this DEO-Grade 16-gauge --

which I'd likely not own if it was marked Parker Bros.
The answer to your second question is very likely unknowable, as there are no surviving records to say just how rare a straight gripped BEO-Grade would be. I can actually only recall ever seeing one BEO-Grade, and that was a well used specimen over at the Missoula show last August. I'll have to ask the question, are you sure it is a BEO-Grade and not an F-Grade Trap Gun? The straight-gripped FE Trap Gun is fairly common and looks a lot like a straight gripped BEO-Grade would look.

Dave, THAT is a really wonderful DEO! I wish it was mine and you had an EE ....... maybe you already have.
Yes this is a BEO. The table is marked B, has "B" style engraving, has ejectors and an original straight grip trigger guard. As I said, it's not perfect. But since I can do most of the work that it needs done myself its a keeper.
I got interested in these Remington 1894s about a year and a half ago when I was asked to participate in the ACGG raffle gun that will be up for 2012. It turned out to be a very special gun and I think everyone will like it. I'd post a picture of it but I can't until July.
