Gamemaster 760 manufacture date

Post by figman »

I have a Gamemaster 760 that belonged to my grandfather. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about this rifle. Serial number is 8105X. On the left side of the barrel there is a small "A" followed by "ZZ" and then what looks like a plus symbol. On the right side there are various symbols including R.E.P, and a three-leafed clover.

Can anyone help me out? Also, if anyone has an idea of the value of this gun, I would also like to know, not that I would ever sell it....

The A ZZ is the Remington date code for assembly- A is March and ZZ is 1953. REP is Remington English Proof. The other stamps are the various codes for the assembler, heat treatment and test function. See pp. 122 & 123 of the Remington Autoloading and Pump Action Rifles book for a complete listing of date codes.

Value is based on condition and ranges from $200 to $400 according to the Blue Book.
