bolt stuck

i just got a new remignton 700 for christmas and the bolt is stuck shut. i have tryed to force it open but it will not budge. the gun has never been shot and i do not beleave the bolt has ever been opened

Just a thought, loosen the front action screw. It might be too long and be putting tension on the bolt body. Let us know how you make out.

it was the front action screw, now waht kind of a trigger should i get?

As long as you don't put a 2Oz. on it, they all work ok. Just make certain the fit and function is perfect. A trigger is not something to scrimp on. Remember your safety and your partners safety depends on the trigger working right.

yea thats why im asking, im looking for about a 2 pound and i dont want any creep. but most importantly i want something reliable and safe

The stock Remington 700 trigger is a very decent adjustable trigger. Do a Google search on 'Remington 700 trigger adjustment' and you will find out how to adjust the factory trigger. I have been doing my own 700 triggers for years and they are exremely nice. About 1 1/2 lb with 0 creep.
