Remington Model 8 Production Date

I was wondering if anyone can date my Remington Model 8? Serial number 51266. or at least point me in the right direction.

According to "The Great 8...." by John Henwood, your rifle receiver was manufactured in May or June of 1923 and the gun was shipped from the factory sometime in 1925. There should be a two letter production code on the left side of the barrel up where it joins the receiver. This is for respectively the month and year gun was produced. The letter designating the month corresponds to the letters which spell BLACKPOWDERX with B being January, L is February etc. The year 1923 is P, R is 1924 and 1925 is S. So "BS" would be the production code for January, 1925. There is a place on this website which explains the production codes system. Look for it. Regards.
