721 722 725 dates of mfg

Post by Rem725 »

A table of actual rifles observed by Rem725 and other members of this group. Ranked by serial number.
Let's find more Transition's and 725's!

Example:
Serial, Model-calibre, bbl code, date
nnnnxx 725-270 A E 3/58

Feel free to post yours just like above.

I will edit entries into this first post.

Please note if your 721 or 722 in the 1957-58 range has a dovetail rear barrel sight or a screw mounted rear barrel sight.

Please note if your early model has S/N inside the bolt rail, or outside,
and is/is not factory tapped on top of rear receiver ring.

Thanks.

I have even started recording ones spotted on store racks, with permission. I wish I would have recorded all the 721 2 & 5's I have gone through all these years.

I'm still looking for a short action 725. Rifle or action. I have a stock.

To Vic

What are the barrel date stamp letters on your 725's? Example AE below. Left side, rear of barrel, as in A E on the one listed.
(date letters = month/year, A E = 3/58 )

725-280 xx m/yy 7027xx

725-280 xx m/yy 7084xx

Interested=yes
Describe, price, pictures?

#7027xx has CE stamped into the lower left corner, visible without removing the stock.

#7084xx has LF stamped into the corner.

I'll e-mail some pics. Vic/

Short action the same length of a model 722. As the long action was like a 721.

Short actions were in calibres 222, 243, 244
Long actions were 270, 280, 30-06, and the magnums 375, 458

Not made since 1961, it will be a hard to find a spare 725 stock.

My solution once was to fit a Remington Classic stock to a 725 30-06. It took several hours of painstaking work to cut and fit matching wood pieces to the safety area.

I have a spare short action stock that I want to use for a 725 rebarrel job in 308. Need to find an action donor rifle.

I have 586xx, a Rem 722 in 300 Savage. It has been custom stocked, scoped etc. It was made in Dec 1948 or Jan 1949, I think. Factory records were inexact during production startup.
