Were 1858 New Model Revolvers ever rebuilt at State and/or National Military Armories? I have not seen anything about this topic on this forum, and I have a revolver that might be a likely candidate. The barrel has the cone front sight and the number 23055, and the frame is numbered 24900. Military inspector marks throughout. The cylinder has the numbers 75 under one nipple, and 82 under the next nipple. On the trigger guard inner tang are the numbers 80 over the number 227. It doesn't appear that it was ever refinished as all the letters are very crisp, and it has about 85 percent of the original blue.
I would also very much appreciate your input on the date of manufacture for the barrel and frame. Many thanks in advance for your comments and time.
