.41 rimfire deringer

Post by Big Grizz »

Again; recieved from friend after his Dad passed and asked to "clean up & fix"

Remington over/under deringer- I assume .41Rimfire
SN: 336
rough condition no original finish- old black spraypaint
Barrel marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION " (I assume the "NY" wore off or was misprinted)

Barrel rotates only to approx 90degrees up from bore axis.
(tough to load?)

Barrel pivot hinge marked "NI" (or "IN" depending on how you look at it) pn right ear of pivot/hinge

Mostly for sentimental values - not expecting a long-lost national treasure!
Is that as low SN? Any history? Dates? etc

Thanks!

It's a third model, unless it's a first variation (short line) where the writting is ( I don't have one in front of me) about 3/4 an inch in from the back of the site and the front of the hinge that's not a serial no but a batch no. (If it's missing the NY before any start of the curve) After the short lines I don't believe there is even an agreement on the order of the other variations or exact counts of each of the 67,000 or so made. If it isn't a shortline then it was manufactured sometime between 1891-1911, with the shortlines being manufactured in 1888-1890.

The IN or NI marking ??
