model 1100 trap choke - mod trap

Post by yellowjacket »

I just purchased a model 1100 trap shotgun and the barrel is marked "mod. trap" for the choke. I am unsure exactly what degree of choke this would be? Would this be Modified , improved modified, light modified?? I just have not seen that term before on a shotgun barrel. Any help? Thanks.

Measure the bore and choke with a bore micrometer. The difference in the two dimensions will give the the constriction. About .008 to .012 would be improved cylinder. .015 to .025, modified. .025 to .035, improved modified. Any more would be full.

I think the "Trap" refers to the very slightly ramped up vent rib with two sights on 1100 TB and TC trap guns as opposed to the flat vent rib on the field guns and skeet guns.
