My Remington Old Model Navy Conversion Year of Manufacture
My Remington Old Model Navy Conversion Year of Manufacture
I recently purchased my first antique Remington. I was hoping someone could tell me it's year of manufacture ( serial # 21167). I can't seem to find a conversion number on it anywhere. There are some partial numbers between the serial number and the frame but I can't make them out. Could this be the conversion number?? Also the barrel has been shortened to 6.75 inches. Could the conversion number have been on this section of barrel??All the numbers match even on the trigger guard brass piece. There has been some milling done to the underside of the trigger guard and I have no idea why. It has some red paint and a small milled area. I suspect that something was rubbing and a gunsmith used the paint to find out where the rubbing was happenning and milled away a small area to solve the problem. I tried to include photos but the site keeps telling me that my files are too large. I would appreciate any information anyone could give me on this. Oh, and the barrel has an anchor stamped on it behind the Remington markings.Thanks... Mike
