581 single shot .22 smooth bore, need info. eastbank

i recieved a 581 .22 smooth bore, and need info on it. it seems like a nice rifle(shotgun). eastbank.

The 581 is a good, reliable rifle in both LR and smoothbore. What did you want to know??? We do not give values.

i didn,t even know they made them and i wondered how many they made and how well they were liked. eastbank.

There seems to be a discrepancy here. Remington made the 580 single shot
in smooth bore. However, I've never seen a smooth bore 581 (clip magazine). If it is
indeed a 581, I would think it is scarce. What is it marked on the top of the barrel?

The smooth bore was listed as a variation in both models.

I have a "regular" 581 from about 1972 vintage (when I purchased it new) and it's a tack-driver. However, I haven't ran across many (if any) other 580/581/582 series rifles in the shops I've been in over the years. Could be that most of the owners have hung onto them......like me.

They sure aren't common. I've never seen one. I haven't found any specific production records at the factory.

i have checked the rifle and it is a 580 SB and not a 581(my bad). i have a 581 lefthand .22 and the actions are the same. eastbank.
