Last years of mfg for 1100 with RKW?

Post by HeWhoHunts »

Is there information concerning when the 1100s that were manufactured were no longer made with the RKW Dupont finish? Did it go into the late 70s?
I sure would like to know when use of the RKW finish ended.

Thanks and God Bless

It was sometime in the mid to late 80s when they went to cut checkering. The used a different polyurethane then. All first and second gen wood stocked guns had the RKW.

Thanks. That's a big help. I wasn't aware the cut checkering and the finish change were related, but makes sense.

Thanks again

Change started in 1986 on some models. Completed on 1988 models except some 1100 models. Those ran thru 1990. This was when Remington was hoping the 11-87 was going to kill off the 1100. Didn't work for Remington or several other manufacturers.

Thanks to everyone. What I would give to have all the 1100s I had at one time......back. LOL
I've been looking at early small bore 1100s.....Holy moly. I need my 1969 410 Mod back.......I even know where it is. I shot hundreds of quail with that shotgun.
Current owner NEVER sells one once he gets it..... :(
I sold it to him way back when for 200 bucks.
That was before I found out our "friendship" was one sided..... :?
Dumb, dumb, dumb...lol.

Hindsight is indeed, 20-20. :D
