Grandpa's Model 11

Post by sharps1874 »

I inherited this 12 ga. from my grandfather in 1987, and it is likely that he bought it new, so I'm wondering when. It was well used, mostly for ducks and squirrels, but not abused. At some point he had a Poly Choke put on, but the original choke was full.

The serial number on the left side of the receiver is 33728x, which seems to be around 1928 from other information I've gathered here and elsewhere. Is that correct? The only letter marking on the left side of the barrel is "DW". On the right side is "REP" and an anchor symbol. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Receivers with serial numbers in the 33728x range were put in work during August 1928. The barrel with a date code of DW would be D = September and W = 1928.
